Using the website www.techsmith.com/jing.html download the Jing screencasting program onto all of the computers. Once the program is ready to use on all computers, students may start the activity:
- Instruct students to open their story in Storybird.
- Once students have their story open, have them set the recordable section using the Jing program.
- Have students select the video option from Jing.
- The program will count down from three and then begin recording.
- At the start of recording, students will read their story aloud page by page so that the words go with the pages and pictures.
- Once the recording is finished, students can't click the stop button and save their screencast.
- Once the Screencast is saved, it can be embeded onto their blogs.
Why I Chose This Tool:
Screencasting is a great way of displaying online work with audio commentary. I like the idea of showing the pages of a book in sync with a voice reading it aloud and screencasting makes it easy. Jing also makes it easy to share with others.
